Owner of Southie Dog Training Business Sentenced for Animal Cruelty
Owner of South Boston dog training and boarding business sentenced for animal cruelty
Tyler Falconer, owner of Falco K9 LLC, has been sentenced to two years of probation after admitting to animal cruelty charges. The charges stem from incidents involving three dogs who were boarded at his facility and suffered significant weight loss and injuries.
Falconer, 30, initially pleaded not guilty to three counts of animal cruelty by a custodian and three counts of improperly tethering or confining an animal. However, he changed his plea to accept a continuance without a finding to two charges of animal cruelty by a custodian.
As part of his sentence, Falconer is required to complete a Benchmark Animal Rehabilitative Curriculum (BARC) course and is prohibited from owning any animals or working in any animal-related business for three years. The case has sparked outrage among animal lovers, with Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden emphasizing the importance of treating all animals with care and compassion.
The Suffolk DA’s office established a countywide Animal Cruelty Task Force in response to a rise in animal cruelty-related crimes in the area, including Falconer’s case. The task force aims to prevent future incidents of animal cruelty and hold offenders accountable for their actions.
The dogs involved in Falconer’s case suffered from neglect, lack of food and water, and exposure to unsanitary living conditions. The sentencing serves as a reminder of the importance of proper care and treatment of animals, especially those entrusted to boarding facilities.
