Humane Society Silicon Valley Seeks Family for 10-Year-Old Dog Surrendered Due to Housing Complications
Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV) is on a mission to find a loving family for Jackie, a 10-year-old male dog who was surrendered by his owner due to housing complications. Despite his circumstances, this 11-pound little guy has a heart of gold and is eagerly awaiting his forever home.
As the community gears up to celebrate National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day on April 30, HSSV is urging animal lovers to consider opening their hearts and homes to shelter pets in need. This annual observance serves as a reminder of the countless pets waiting for their second chance at shelters across the country.
Senior dogs like Jackie often face extended stays in shelters, which can take a toll on their well-being. Nicole Cacy, HSSV’s Senior Manager, Capacity and Animal Flow, highlighted the challenges faced by larger dogs in shelters and emphasized the importance of finding them loving homes.
In addition to finding homes for pets like Jackie, HSSV is actively working to support pet owners facing financial hardships. Through programs like the Sue and John Diekman Regional Rescue Program, the organization provides medical care and adoption services for animals from under-resourced shelters. The Pet Pantry and mobile clinic also offer essential resources like food, nutrition, and spay/neuter services to pet owners in need.
Jackie, with his fun-loving personality and low-maintenance nature, is sure to bring joy to any household. He is crate-trained, potty-trained, and would do well with a family of adults and children in high school or above. Despite being a bit shy at first, Jackie’s true personality shines through once he feels comfortable.
