Cardboard City Pops Up in Century City, Promoting Creative Expression and Environmental Awareness
CENTURY CITY – Get ready to think outside the box at Cardboard City, the innovative pop-up art center that is back for its third year. Located at Westfield Century City in partnership with Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, Cardboard City offers a unique experience for visitors of all ages.
From July 21 to Sep. 3, Cardboard City will feature a museum-style exhibition created by LA-based artists, collaborations with artists-in-residence, and a gift shop filled with cardboard creations. Visitors can expect to see cardboard costuming, sculptures as tall as 12 feet, and even participate in crafting classes for a hands-on experience.
For just $45, groups of up to four can join in on 50-minute crafting classes led by Teaching Artists. Children as young as 2 years old can participate in special crafting sessions on weekends. The rest of the art program is free and open to the public, making it accessible to everyone.
Produced by reDiscover, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting self-expression through environmentally-friendly art, Cardboard City aims to engage families, exhibit inspiring sculptures, and provide hands-on art experiences for children. The program also works with schools in under-resourced communities to bring art, engineering, and math education to students.
Cardboard City represents the intersection of art, engineering, and sustainability, showcasing the creative potential of cardboard as a medium. With plans to expand to other locations in Los Angeles and Southern California, reDiscover hopes to continue supporting local artists and inspiring thousands of youth.
Don’t miss the grand opening of Cardboard City on July 21 at Westfield Century City. The exhibit will be open Wednesday to Friday from noon to 6 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Join in on the fun and unleash your creativity at Cardboard City.
