Possible Goat Thief Strikes in Orange County, NC: Owner Raises Alarm
Theft of Beloved Goat Sparks Concern in Orange County
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WTVD) — A proud goat owner is raising the alarm about a possible thief stealing loving pets in Orange County.
Clarence Dillard, a devoted goat owner, is heartbroken after his beloved goat, Pom, went missing from Spring Haven Farm in April. Dillard described Pom as his “daughter” and shared how much he cherished their bond.
Initially, it was believed that coyotes might have taken Pom, but further investigation led Dillard to suspect foul play. He enlisted the help of tracker Balynda Brown and her dog Preacher from Bravo K911, a lost pet finding service in the Triangle.
Brown and Preacher followed Pom’s scent, leading them to a nearby highway, indicating that Pom could not have made the journey alone. Dillard then filed a report with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, suspecting that Pom was stolen.
Cases of stolen goats are challenging to track, with some owners discovering that their missing pets were sold to petting zoos. In response to the incident, Spring Haven Farm has increased security measures to protect their animals.
Despite the difficult situation, Dillard remains hopeful and determined to bring Pom home safely. He expressed forgiveness towards the thief, emphasizing that his main priority is Pom’s well-being.
As the search for Pom continues, the community rallies behind Dillard in his quest to reunite with his cherished goat.
